"The Children's Cancer Fund of New Mexico, a 501-c-3 not-for-profit organization, exists to help New Mexico 's children with cancer and their families cope with the day-to-day needs of living with and fighting cancer. Among the services provided, the Erin Trujeque Memorial Scholarship was created to help students who have undergone treatment for childhood cancer and wish to continue their education beyond high school. Hundreds of these very deserving students have been helped to achieve their dreams through this scholarship program. Brett Weitzel has been a recipient of the Erin Trujeque Memorial Scholarship and not only continues to pursue his dreams in medical school on the program but is now giving back to the organization by raising funds through the MONOPOD MOUNTAIN BIKE MADNESS. Brett and his family are of the trials and hardship that childhood cancer can bring and have been supportive of the Children's Cancer Fund through the Erin Trujeque Memorial. Brett's courageous endeavor, riding 214 miles is amazing but even more so because he has chosen to accomplish this feat while helping the equally courageous kids who are fighting this horrible disease. As a member of the Board of Directors of the Children's Cancer Fund and as Erin 's mom, I wholeheartedly endorse and support Brett's efforts and urge you, his friends, to be as committed as he to this cause. Thank you!"
